The jewelry Kathryn Bentley designs and handmakes in her Silverlake studio for Dream Collective combines raw textures and natural, subdued tones, creating a primal earthy delicacy. Wrought from rudimentary elements such as oxidized brass and bone, the pieces also feature wood and antique African beads. Dream Collective’s 2014 spring collection is inspired by the Wiener Werkstatte in the 1920s during the Art Nouveau movement in Vienna. The designs combine oxidized brass and gold plate finishings with both pale and vibrant enamel colors completed with classics such as black, cream and cobalt blue. Kathryn focused on textured patterns and architectural shapes with these bold and elegant necklaces, rings, earrings, and her popular cuffs. They are compatible with each other and with previous collections, and also great as statement pieces.
