Andrei Davidoff is a ceramic artist and sculptor based in Melbourne, Australia. His functional ceramic pieces are predominantly wheel-thrown and are made from local porcelains and stoneware clays in his Melbourne studio. Davidoff's wheel formed functional ware is inspired by a restrained notion of landscape, an Eastern aesthetic and a Scandinavian sensibility. Smoke-curl brushwork, distinct clay-glaze interactions, a minimalist colour palette and elegant forms contribute to create pieces, which are unique in their visual and tactile qualities. Each piece is robust enough for daily use and is made to enhance the presentation and enjoyment of food and drink. Andrei's sculptural practise explores architectural structures and liminal spaces - redefining and highlighting intangible spaces by framing and outlining them with large minimalist forms. Andrei completed his Masters in Fine Arts at RMIT University in 2012. His work is held in numerous private and institutional collections both in Australia as well as overseas.
